I have a military buyer who is preparing to ship out for Army Basic Training/AIT in December. AIT location is expected to become the first duty station, and are hoping to purchase in the Newport News/Fort Eustis, VA area.
They’re being proactive and want to use the next several months to:
• Understand their VA loan options
• Get a realistic idea of what payment fits their budget
• Prepare for the home-buying process while in training
• Understand closing costs and cash-to-close
• Think through the possibility of a future PCS and whether selling or renting the home could make sense
